Speak without Speaking - Subvocal Communication
Are you one of thoses folks that always does a double take, when you see someone that looks like they’re talking to themselves… and then you figure out that they’re on a cell phone with a hands-free headset? Well get ready to deal with a whole new level of that.
Nokia owned mobile-tech site The Feature, has an article with an up to date overview of NASA’s progress with Sub Vocal Communication Devices. It helps astronauts communicate with voice recognition systems for computers and robotic devices, by eliminating difficulties caused in high noise environments.
Apply this to the cunsumer market and you’ll be making calls on your cell phone without saying a word.
I’m still waiting for my flying, laser powered car, which was suppossed to be on, just after the floating electro-magnetic skateboards. But since NASA has actually placed subvocal cell phone calls, I guess I’ll take a comepletely silent cell phone in the mean time.
